DC to NYC!
Posted on November 13th, 2008 @ 2:43 pm

Friday, November 7th at 6:00pm the whole gang piled onto the China Town Bus with a direct route from DC to NYC!  Yep, everyone from DC came into town for a weekend of shopping, eating, laughing, and of course theater!

One would think since everyone arrived on Friday night that our weekend of fun would start first thing on Saturday morning, right…wrong!  We didn’t make it out of the apartment until 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon; this group really takes “sleeping-in” to a whole new level!  (I guess it doesn’t help that I have “black-out blinds” in the living room which does not allow any light to come through, and as a result you have no idea if it is 2:00am or 2:00pm outside! :) hee hee)

Once we made it out of the house our first destination was going to be H&M! It was a great idea when we left, however on our way there we ran into a street fair which distracted us from our original destination for several hours.  Street fairs in NY are great (a lot like China Town) because you can get a lot of stuff for really cheap!  Once all our bags were sufficiently piled high with $10 items we decided to split from the street fair and do some real shopping…destination H&M!  Do you think we were able to walk straight from the street fair without stopping by six other stores? Not a chance!  By the time we got to H&M everyone was exhausted and our pocket books were  nearly empty.  After an hour of looking around we decided that it was time to abort all shopping plans and head to dinner!

For dinner, KA and I separated from the rest of the group and met of with some of her old roommates from Utah who were in town for the weekend.  We ate at a great burger place called Stand which is known for their delicious Toasted Marshmallow shakes and juicy burgers!  It was fun to laugh about the good old days and catch up on the events happening back home.

After dinner KA and I headed home for a classic night!  (Little Background Story): When KA an I were roommates we use to hangout on our beds every night talking and giggling until all hours.   Topics would range from: what we did during the day, things that drive us crazy, stress us out, make us laugh, make us cry, future husbands, the gospel, friends, clothes, money, and the most popular topic… where should we go on our next vacation! In fact, if you were to rewind two years ago, you would have found that our late night topics were often about how amazing it would be to live in New York, Washington DC, or anywhere on the East Coast.  At the end of each night, and especially ones that involved us dreaming or hoping of better and bigger things, we would always say:  ” Your dreams can’t come true if you don’t have any!”

This is us living our dream!

Sar-launa’s Birthday!
Posted on November 7th, 2008 @ 3:52 pm

The Sar-launa birthday party was a HUGE hit this year!

Little background: When I moved to New York I knew absolutely no one!  In fact, when I first moved to New York I originally thought that I was going to live in New Jersey and then commute into the city to work each day.  However, after discussing my idea with my co-workers, it didn’t take long for that idea to be immediately vetoed!  Everyone told me that since I moved to New York I had to live in the city in order to get the complete New York experience! In my hunt to live in the city I attended the Union Square 3rd ward, which was in the boundaries of the apartment that I was hoping to move into, and that’s where I first met Sara.

She came up my very first Sunday and started talking to me, she was so easy to talk too, so much fun, and had such an outgoing personality that by the end of church not only did I feel like we were best friends but she had introduced me to a whole bunch of new people.  Since then we have become great friends and it all made perfect sense when I found out that we share the same birthday!

Adam who is Sara’s brother who also lives in the city (with his wife Liesel) gave Sara and I a dual birthday bash which they titled Sar-launa!  The big event was held down at 45 Wall Street where a bunch of our friends came to party!  It was a memorable night filled with delicious cake, tasty apple cider, along with the most attrative, smart, outgoing young single adults that New York has to offer!

A big thanks to Adam and Liesel for hosting the party and to everyone who came to help us celebrate our big day!

Yep, he’s still my favorite!
Posted on November 6th, 2008 @ 12:10 pm

Yep, its true he’s still my favorite, but lets be honest he always has been!

Below is a fun picture that might look a little familiar…  Jason and I have a tradition that each time he comes into the city we always take the ferry over to Jersey, eat dinner at PF Chang’s, and then go for a walk along the shore.  We took a similar picture in this same spot about 5 months ago just after we first started dating…I’m happy to report that he is still my favorite.
