US OPEN!
I have to be the luckiest girl in the whole world. On Tuesday night I went to the US Open held here in New York and watch the match between Venus Williams vs. Samantha Stosur and Roger Federer vs. Maximo Gonzalez. Both matches were awesome! Of course Venus blew Samantha out of the water as did Federer against Gonzalez, but it was still amazing to watch. Its crazy how fast they are all able to serve the ball! I mean we are talking about 100 mph + with each serve. Crazy!
If you have never had the opportunity to attend a professional tennis match, I highly recommend it! Add it to your list of things to do before dyeing! Attending a tennis match is TOTALLY different then attending any other professional football, basketball, or baseball game. Let me explain.
At normal sporting events you have people who wear jersey’s, paint their bodies, and yell the entire game. You even have people that yell at the coaches or referee’s for making a bad call. Yeah, not in tennis! There is no screaming or yelling AT ALL, gosh there is barely even talking. When you clap you can only do so ever so softly. At one point during the match between Federer vs. Gonzalez I got so excited and accidently shouted out WOOT, WOOT! Yeah, that didn’t go over so well. I swear people were looking at me thinking “Who let that girl in?” Yeah, I didn’t care…Who doesn’t give a little shout out to the players when they have a good rally or returned a good serve? I mean seriously! That’s how you encourage the players, right? As far as what people wear… holy cow! There were girls that were dressed to the nines! We are talking huge sun hats, Prada outfits, high heels, up do’s, were talking the whole nine yards. It was crazy! You would never see that at any other sporting event (not even in the box seats).
This whole night was shared with a few of my friends from the city. We had a great time! Check out the pictures below:
